More asteroids than we believed? Aerospace professor weighs in on discovery
A detection tool designed to search for potentially deadly space rocks revealed more than 100 previously unknown asteroids, according to a report released by the Asteroid Institute. Using an open-source, cloud-based system, an algorithm links points of light consistent with orbits of asteroids from reams of archival night sky images.

EWC Community Education announces summer bus trips
“Take me out to the ballgame. Buy me some peanuts & Cracker Jacks.” Cheer on the Rockies as they play the Pittsburgh Pirates. Special promotion on this game day is a Mandalorian Beverage Wrap for the first 15,000 fans. Game time is 1:10pm. The cost of this trip is $80 and includes the price of admission. Use Water Wisely
Des Moines Water Works and the City of Bondurant monitor water use and water quality on a daily basis. Conditions can change quickly and could lead to a Water Shortage Plan. Specifically, Des Moines Water Works monitors for microcystin in both the Raccoon and Des Moines rivers on a daily basis. Microcystin is a toxin produced when harmful algae blooms are fueled by nitrogen and phosphorus contamination in surface waters.

Water Infrastructure Update
The City of Rawlins recently made three major achievements in our water infrastructure projects: pipeline installation in the Sage Creek Basin, delivery and installation of screens for Filter #1, and received a $675,000 State Land and Investment Board Mineral and Royalties Grant (SLIB MRG).

Public Open House for the Bondurant Comprehensive Plan
The Bondurant Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee, along with the consultant company Confluence, has been working on the updated comprehensive plan for Bondurant since July of 2021. A comprehensive plan is a long-range plan that covers a wide range of community topics, including land use, parks and recreation, natural resources, economic development, housing, community character, transportation, and infrastructure.

City of Boulder Offering Two Grant Opportunities for the Arts and Culture Workforce with $915,000 in ARPA Funding
City of Boulder Office of Arts and Culture is offering Arts Administration Rehiring Grants and Artist Hiring Incentive Grants designed to respond to arts industry, COVID-related workforce impacts through targeted grants to arts and culture organizations. Funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), these grants are enhancements to rehire arts administration positions that were eliminated due to the pandemic, and to employ Boulder-area visual, performing, and literary artists to perform or create new work.
