Crews have started rehabilitation work on the water tower on Cummings Drive. They are installing the tank shroud so sandblasting operations can begin to remove the old paint coating on the tower. There is also work being done to the inside, with crews making repairs and replacing ladders.
Once crews finish the interior work, they will begin repainting the exterior with the winning water tower design chosen in November. Work is scheduled to be complete this summer.
In addition to the tank rehabilitation project, the City has added a mixer to the tower near Fire Station #3 and will also add it to the Cummings Drive Water Tower. Mixers circulate the water, which improves water quality, prevents ice formation, and lengthens the life of the water tower.
