WINTER PARKING RESTRICTIONS - NOVEMBER 1 THROUGH APRIL 15

Beginning Tuesday, November 1st winter parking restrictions will be in effect within the Town of Jackson.  The winter parking ban is a seasonal status change on town streets and lots that prohibits parking in the public right of way to facilitate snow removal and winter street maintenance operations.

The winter parking ban is in effect from 3am - 7am every night from November 1 through April 15, regardless of weather conditions.   The ban is in place because of potential snowfall in the region.  Snow can only efficiently and cost effectively be cleared at night from lots and streets that are empty of vehicles.   Keeping a consistently active parking ban eliminates the need for residents and guests to guess what the weather will do on a particular night and takes into account the prospect of fast-changing weather in our area.   Even a few illegally parked cars can slow down the snow removal process and ultimately cost us all more money.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead if they are headed out for an evening of festivities.   The Town of Jackson would like to remind residents that overnight parking is permitted in the parking garage structure located at Simpson and Milward.  Parking is allowed in the parking garage for up to 48 hours at a time.

Cars left on town streets between the hours of 3am and 7am will be ticketed and may be towed.   If your car has been towed, please contact Ron's Towing, Eagle Towing and Big Bear/Flat Creek Towing to retrieve your vehicle.

Town residents are also reminded to keep their sidewalks shoveled this winter.  The town does assist with snow removal on the sidewalks in the downtown core and along Broadway Avenue.   Residents are asked to wait until after 7am on garbage days to put out their trash cans to keep these receptacles out of the way of snow removal crews.   Lastly, residents are reminded not to park in driveways two vehicles deep in a manner that causes cars to stick out over the sidewalk or into the right of way.

For more information please call the Jackson Police Department at 307-733-1430.
