Several opportunities this fall to participate in the City of Boulder Public Art Program
The City of Boulder’s Office of Arts and Culture has many opportunities open this fall in the Public Art Program. Several opportunities are available, including those outlined below.
Request for Qualifications: Valmont Park – Educational Rain Garden Public Art Opportunity
The City of Boulder Utilities Department and Office of Arts and Culture Public Art Program invite Colorado-based artists to apply for this public art opportunity at the city-owned Valmont Park rain garden. The primary requirement for installations is that they should highlight the function of a rain garden. A total project budget of $18,750 is available for this opportunity for Colorado-based artists, free to apply, and the deadline to apply is Sept. 19.
Experiments in Public Art is open for applications through Sept. 25
Experiments in Public Art is a program of ongoing projects across the city which are temporary in nature, responsive to community needs, and interactive/participatory. This year’s program partners with FARM TO SPACESHIP, a local arts accelerator program, to focus on COVID Rebound and community connection through experiences over things. Applications are open to select a cohort of roughly 20 participants comprised of local businesses and creatives. A total of up to $50,000 is available, and eligible candidates must live or work in Boulder.
Mural Artist Roster open through Oct. 15, 2022
Artists living in the Front Range corridor of Colorado and Wyoming are invited to submit qualifications for the Boulder Office of Arts and Culture's Mural Artist Roster. This roster serves as a resource to identify artists most suitable for new artwork commissions across the city, including the Creative Neighborhoods Mural Program. The Front Range corridor region includes Albany and Laramie counties in Wyoming, and the following counties in Colorado: Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Denver, Douglas, El Paso, Elbert, Fremont, Gilpin, Jefferson, Larimer, Park, Pueblo, Teller, Weld. Deadline is Oct. 15, 2022.
Call for public art selection panel participants
Every City of Boulder public art project is determined through a unique selection panel of community members. We’re looking for artists, arts professionals, and all-around community members interested in helping select artists for upcoming public art projects – like the murals featured in the Main Boulder Public Library restrooms for all. If you are interested or would like to apply, email: publicart@bouldercolorado.gov with any questions or a one-page letter of interest and resume.
