NCAR Fire Containment Numbers Improve, and Command is Transferred Back to the City

File0001020893537

Boulder recently issued the following announcement.

Boulder-Fire Rescue (BFR) is pleased to announce that the NCAR fire remains at 190 acres and is now 90% contained.

We currently have rain falling in the area, allowing our firefighting personnel to reconfigure their firefighting strategy to a monitoring and recovery phase.

The fire’s incident management structure has officially been transitioned to the City of Boulder as a Type 4 incident. We appreciate the support from the Boulder County Type 3 Incident Management Team (IMT) on this fire.

In the following days, Boulder Fire-Rescue will continue to patrol and monitor the fire’s area. We will maintain our water hose-line lays in the burn scar while we are monitoring the fire and will remove these lines as appropriate over the next week. Please note that community members may see smoke in the burn scar during this time, which is a normal occurrence as a fire burns itself out. There is no need to call 911 if you see small amounts of smoke in the NCAR fire burn area. If you see anything outside of the norm, please, as always, call 911.

We had over 50 agencies support and aid us during the fire over the span of the last few days. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to every one of them. Fighting a fire like the NCAR fire required all of us working together and our success is shared by everyone.
