Officers Arrest Student for School Threat

Boulder Police officers have arrested a student who made a threat of violence at a city charter school.

On Sept. 2, Boulder Police were notified by the Boulder Valley School District that a 16-year-old male student had made a threat of violence toward Boulder Prep High School at 5075 Chaparral Court. Officers immediately began an investigation and increased patrols. BVSD took additional security precautions while the case was investigated.

Officers identified the student, and this week executed a search warrant at his home before taking him into custody today on charges of Interference at Educational Institution and Inciting Destruction Of Life or Property.

The Boulder Police Department takes all threats seriously and encourages anyone who sees or hears of anything suspicious at any time to call 911.

As in every criminal case, these charges are an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty.
