Buffalo, New York – Mayor Byron W. Brown and the Department of Community Services and Recreational Programming are encouraging City youth, ages 12 to 16, to participate in Mayor Brown’s new Get-a-Grip Weightlifting Club & Challenge, which kicks off the week of February 6th. To register for this FREE 6-week weightlifting training program, interested participants are asked to call Community Services at (716) 851-4001.

Mayor Brown stated, “Whether you’re lifting weights, running, or walking, exercise is a great outlet for young people to manage emotions and build new skills. I encourage City youth to sign up for this free, after-school weightlifting program and challenge, that covers weightlifting technique through demos and hands-on activities.”

Mayor Brown’s Get-a-Grip Weightlifting Club & Challenge is a FREE 6-week co-ed weightlifting training and life skills development program, instructed by Health Care and Fitness Coordinator Ryan Courton.
