Starting as early as Monday, Nov. 7, the City of Boulder will remove invasive tree species – including green ash trees – from city open space in the Chautauqua Meadow area.
This planned work will remove dead and dying, non-native green ash trees and will help minimize further spread of Emerald Ash Borer, an invasive tree pest responsible for the death or decline of more than 100 million ash trees across the country. Once infected by Emerald Ash Borer, green ash trees can quickly dry out and become very brittle – creating potential safety hazards along popular trails.
While this vegetation removal work is occurring, City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) will close the Ski Jump Trail from Bluebell-Baird to Chautauqua Trail. Visit OSMPTrails.org to view alternate destinations.
