Just before 2 a.m. this morning, a Bedford Police Officer observed a suspected drunk driver speeding on Hwy. 183 and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle refused to yield and began shooting at the officer in pursuit.

The pursuit continued for several miles and ended in Dallas, around the 2200 block of N. Stemmons Fwy. When the driver finally stopped, he exited his vehicle and began firing at officers again, striking police vehicles, other vehicles in the area, and an innocent bystander nearby with complete disregard for anyone in the area.

Officers returned fire and the suspect is deceased. Dallas Police and the Dallas County District Attorney’s Officer are investigating the incident. At this time, the suspect’s identity is not being released.
